2012 Riddle Pinot Noir

The Riddle Vineyard sits high on Stoetz Ridge, a rise in between the town of Occidental and the cool Green Valley subsection of the Russian River Valley. At approximately 750 feet above sea level, this vineyard sits right on the fog line; occasionally fog from the River rises to meet the vineyard, but often the site is bathed in brilliant but cool sunshine. The soils are part of the Franciscan complex, an uplift of the ancient Pacific sea floor that is most noted for excellent drainage and low organic content, which creates vines that are self-regulating and uniquely low-yielding. The vineyard was planted in 2007.
