This ridge is more or less the third ridge in from the Pacific Ocean. The vineyard's elevation allows for the vineyard to be well above much of the morning fog that cloaks Green Valley, enhancing flavor development. In addition, the proximity to the Pacific Ocean means that a cool breeze kicks up early in the afternoon, shielding the grapes from excessive heat.

The vines were planted over the course of several seasons in 2000. Our section of the vineyard is planted exclusively to Pommard clone, which performs excellently in the low-vigor, Franciscan-series soils that dominate this windy hilltop. Intensive farming and meticulous canopy management make this vineyard one of our stars.
